Life In Paradise Vacation Rentals was a small rental management company that started in 1985. During the '80s the competition was much different than it is today with only a few companies offering vacation rentals in Port Aransas. In 1990 Martha and David Dore purchased the business that consisted of 13 vacation properties. Martha quickly understood that in order to grow the business she would have to create a booking process that was more efficient than using paper calendars showing the bookings for each property. The company used a software program developed by Martha's son Steve DeWitt from the mid-1990s through 2014 to take the company to next level. During these years the company managed anywhere from 50 - 70 properties. In 2012 Steve DeWitt, along with his wife Alma purchased a minority interest in the company. With the development of all the new commercial software in the market and the importance of integration with the major OTAs, such as VRBO, Airbnb, etc. the company moved to a more robust vacation Rental Software in 2014. In an effort to ensure the company stays ahead of the technology curve they have always looked ahead to find the best solutions available. In 2017 - 2018 after Hurricane Harvey, Steve began directing the day-to-day operations and purchased the remaining assets. Today, Life In Paradise Manages over 550 rental properties and 12 HOAs in Port Aransas. The third generation, consisting of Matt DeWitt, Jennifer (DeWitt) Giordano, Amber Rueda & Oscar Rueda (son-in-law), have already assumed key roles in the family business. Life In Paradise also has a tremendous staff of over 35 full-time employees and maintains a housekeeping staff of anywhere from 40 - 90, depending on the season.
